The death toll in Haiti continues to rise after the devastating earthquake that struck on Saturday, August 14. Every Haitian is being impacted by the harsh realities the country is currently facing. After receiving council from our partner organizations and understanding the situation in Haiti before jumping into action, we’ve decided the next step in our response will be two-fold:
1) Providing funds directly to educators in the greatest need within our network. Many of our partner teachers are in the streets with little to nothing. Providing funds will help our teachers best plan their next steps.
2) Partnering with Fondation Jean Jean Roosevelt, a grassroots organization comprised of young adults from every commune in one of the departments that was hit the hardest. We will partner with Jean Jean Roosevelt through the young adults to provide critical aid (food, water, tents and hygienic supplies) to individuals in great need in Grand’Anse (Jean Jean Roosevelt’s hometown).
We are confident that both of these strategic responses will have a high level of impact and will ensure that victims receive the aid that was meant for them.
We invite you to partner with us as we aim to stand with those who are currently hurting.
